Political & Advocacy Sales Executive
IQM is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Political and Advocacy Sales Executive to join our growing Political & Advocacy team. In this role, you will own a personal book of business and drive net-new and expansion revenue with political agencies, campaigns, PACs, and advocacy groups. You will lead the full sales cycle: prospecting, pitching, negotiating, and closing, while partnering with Ad Ops and CSM to ensure seamless activation on IQM’s DSP/DMP.
You will serve as a trusted, consultative seller who can articulate IQM’s value across CTV, video, display, audio, and native. You will map our capabilities to voter data strategies and district geo precision, and guide clients on privacy compliant, FEC and state aware execution. This position requires deep programmatic expertise, a strong understanding of political compliance and buying workflows, and a track record of exceeding quota in fast paced election cycles.
Ideal Experience
- Extensive Ad Tech Experience: 4-6+ years of experience in advertising technology, digital media sales, or programmatic platforms, with a deep understanding of data-driven campaign execution, targeting, and measurement.
- Political Vertical Expertise: 4-8+ years in political media, advertising, or campaign consulting, with strong familiarity across political cycles, advocacy, and issue-based advertising.
- Established Bipartisan Relationships: Proven network of relationships across leading political agencies, committees, and advocacy organizations. Ability to navigate bipartisan environments and cultivate long-term trust.
- Proven Revenue Growth: Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding seven-figure sales quotas and building repeat business in a competitive political advertising environment.
- Agency & Campaign Experience: Understanding of agency workflows, buying cycles, RFP processes, and campaign media execution.
- Ad Tech & Data Fluency: Strong command of how DSPs, DMPs, voter data, and audience targeting work within the political ecosystem.
Essential Skills
- Strategic Prospecting & Deal-Making: Expert in sourcing, pitching, negotiating, and closing complex, high-value political deals across programmatic, CTV, video, display, and audio.
- Relationship Management: Proven ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with senior decision-makers at agencies, committees, PACs, and advocacy groups.
- Technical Sales Acumen: Capable of demonstrating IQM’s political ad tech platform and explaining its unique value to data-driven campaign strategists and media buyers.
- Pipeline & Forecast Management: Skilled in managing a robust sales pipeline, maintaining accurate forecasts, and driving deals through every stage of the sales cycle.
- Campaign Knowledge: Understanding of how voter data, geo-targeting, and political district segmentation are applied in programmatic media campaigns.
- Industry Awareness: Keeps current with political, digital media, and regulatory trends (e.g., FEC guidelines, CCPA/CPRA compliance).
- Presentation & Communication: Excellent communicator—comfortable pitching to large agencies, speaking at industry events, and representing IQM within the political advertising community.
- Tools Proficiency: Experienced with HubSpot (CRM), Excel, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and FEC.gov for research and pipeline intelligence.
- Willingness to Travel: Readiness to attend client meetings, conferences, and political events nationwide, especially during election cycles.
Core Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Generation
- Identify, pursue, and close direct sales opportunities with political agencies, campaigns, PACs, and advocacy groups.
- Develop strategic account plans and execute outreach to expand IQM’s footprint across the political media marketplace.
- Manage full sales cycle from prospecting to negotiation to close, ensuring timely deal flow and accurate revenue forecasting.
- Collaborate with Ad Ops and Customer Success teams to ensure smooth onboarding, campaign execution, and post-campaign analysis.
- Consistently meet or exceed individual revenue targets and performance metrics.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by aligning IQM’s data and platform capabilities with campaign goals.
- Build long-term relationships with decision-makers at agencies and campaigns to drive renewals and incremental spend.
- Educate clients on the benefits of IQM’s Political DMP/DSP and emerging capabilities such as voter ID matching, district geo-precision, and cross-screen activation.
Market & Product Feedback
- Gather client feedback and competitive insights to inform product development and strategic roadmaps.
- Stay informed on evolving political data partnerships, SSP integrations, and programmatic trends to provide consultative value to clients.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Marketing and CSM teams to develop targeted materials, client case studies, and event participation opportunities.
- Maintain accurate deal records, activity logs, and forecasts in HubSpot.
- Contribute to team pipeline reviews and share best practices across the Political Sales team.
