Job Opportunity

IQM is seeking an experienced Sales Director, Public Affairs to join our growing Political and Advocacy team. In this role, you will own a personal book of business and drive both net new and expansion revenue with public affairs firms, trade associations, corporate government relations teams, lobbying organizations, and issue advocacy groups.

You will lead the full sales cycle from prospecting and pitching through negotiation and close, while partnering closely with Ad Operations and Customer Success to ensure seamless activation on IQM’s DSP and DMP. As a trusted, consultative seller, you will articulate IQM’s value across CTV, video, display, audio, and native, mapping platform capabilities to issue-based audience strategies, stakeholder targeting, legislative district precision, and privacy compliant execution.

The ideal candidate brings deep programmatic expertise, strong knowledge of public affairs and issue advocacy, and a proven track record of exceeding quota in year-round issue campaign environments.

This role is hybrid, meaning team members are expected to work one to two days per week in person at one of the office locations in either NY/DC.

What You’ll Do

  • Sales and Revenue Generation: Identify, pursue, and close direct sales opportunities with public affairs firms, trade associations, corporate government affairs teams, and issue advocacy organizations. Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close, ensuring strong deal flow and accurate forecasting.
  • Account Growth and Strategy: Develop strategic account plans to expand IQM’s footprint across the public affairs and issue advocacy ecosystem. Drive renewals and incremental spend through consultative selling and long term relationship building.
  • Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor by aligning IQM’s data, platform, and audience capabilities with issue campaign objectives. Guide clients on stakeholder audience targeting, legislative district precision, and compliant programmatic execution across year-round advocacy efforts.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Ad Operations, Customer Success, and Marketing teams to support onboarding, campaign execution, post campaign analysis, and client enablement.
  • Market and Product Feedback: Gather client insights and competitive intelligence to inform product development and strategic roadmaps. Stay current on public affairs data partnerships, programmatic trends, and regulatory developments affecting issue advocacy and corporate communications.
  • Pipeline and Reporting: Maintain accurate deal records, activity tracking, and forecasts in HubSpot. Contribute to pipeline reviews and share best practices across the Political and Advocacy Sales team.

Who You Are

  • 4 to 6+ years of experience in ad tech, digital media sales, or programmatic platforms, with strong understanding of data driven campaign execution.
  • 4 to 8+ years of experience in public affairs, issue advocacy, corporate government relations, or campaign consulting, with deep familiarity across the full advocacy lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed seven figure sales quotas in competitive public affairs or advocacy advertising environments.
  • Strong understanding of DSPs, DMPs, stakeholder audience data, issue-based targeting, and measurement within public affairs media.
  • Comfortable navigating bipartisan and multi-stakeholder environments and building long term trust with senior decision makers.
  • Highly organized, strategic, and motivated by owning outcomes in fast-paced advocacy and policy environments.

We’re Excited If You Have

  • An established network across public affairs firms, trade associations, corporate GR teams, lobbying organizations, and 501(c)(4) advocacy groups.
  • Experience selling programmatic, CTV, and data driven media solutions to public affairs and issue advocacy clients.
  • Strong working knowledge of lobbying disclosure requirements, 501(c)(3)/(c)(4) compliance, and privacy regulations as they apply to issue advocacy.
  • Experience using HubSpot, Excel, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and public affairs research tools.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, industry conferences, and advocacy events throughout the year.

Compensation

This role is designed for high-impact sellers who are motivated by ownership, performance, and upside. In addition to a competitive base salary, IQM offers an aggressive commission structure that rewards results and growth.

On-target earnings (OTE) for this role are projected in the $400,000–$600,000 range, with uncapped earning potential on gross spend paid on the first dollar on a monthly basis for top performers.
